Coke Bottle Carnation Bouquet

Coke Bottle Bouquet on Expired Film

More expired 35mm film snaps are on the way. A stem of carnations in a glass Coca-Cola bottle made a fine window sill bouquet as setting sun gave a warm side light. Odd colors and inconsistencies courtesy of in-camera light leaks and home developing slosh.

Looking at it again, the subject matter and setting takes me back to one of my first 35mm SLR photographs. I had no idea what the dials and settings were for on this shiny new camera, I guessed and biffed the exposure, and really enjoyed the happy accident result. While taking the snap above, I knew what the settings were for but the film, the camera, and chemistry all knew better and spiced up the result for a surprise anyway.

If I can happy accident, so can you!

Tech specs: expired 35mm film (off-brand drugstore variety) in a Mamiya / Sekor 500 DTL mechanical camera, exposure unrecorded. Developed at home in Unicolor C41 chemistry.
