Your story, your memories, our passion

our first ultrasound

it’s a… baby!

Ultrasound-070807-01

We went for Sara’s first ultrasound today. After her last checkup they said her uterus was larger than anticipated at this point in her pregnancy so she was either farther along or possibly having twins. Can you imagine two little Erics or Saras at once… eek!

My prediction of us being farther along was the outcome and we’re 15 weeks along now, 2 weeks ahead of where we thought. From a husband’s perspective it’s hard to really tell what’s going on in our pregnancy. Sara’s been beginning to look more pregnant. The last 3 months the only “signs” were really just that she was nauseated a lot, didn’t want Hacienda much at all (serious change!) and was tired out. There weren’t a lot of other outward signs she’s got a baby growing in there. Did I mention mood swings? Did I mention staying out of the way and just doing whatever she needs instead of arguing about it? I did mention that.

Seeing the baby today, watching it wiggle around inside my wife’s tummy… was incredible. No names picked out, no gender prediction, just awesome to see a glimpse of our child growing.

We got to see some amazing views of our little baby. The baby wiggled all around for the “camera” – just wait, kid, you’ll have cameras everywhere when you come out next winter. The baby’s mouth was moving so it’s already picked up some hobbies from its parents. Little arms and legs wiggled around while the pictures were being taken. And then, while adjusting angles, the baby gave us a VERY clear answer to the question of gender…

It’s a BOY! The ultrasound tech was surprised how clear a view and how well you could tell at this point and stated she was “90% positive” since she wasn’t supposed to predict anything for us today, just help determine the due date. Sara and I are thrilled to see the baby growing well, even if he’s just a 4″ tall little fella so far. I’ll add some of the ultrasound photos soon as I get a chance… I think the proud mommy has them while running errands and visiting her sister in town.

Me… I’m ecstatic to see our baby jumping around. When I told my dad he said in his silly voice “You know, my first child was a boy too…” I’m pretty aware of it, since that was me! :o )

wow….Congratulations :o ) I’m super stoked for you…Especially being able to see the little guy squirming around… 90% is pretty good certainty. What’s the amended due date? Okay. I’m off. I’ll maybe see you Thursday.
