I don’t know how but they found me
Who? The LIBYANS! Well, search engine placement telemarketers anyhow. Not as scary as a VW of armed radicals chasing me through a mall parking lot, but annoying nonetheless. RUN MARTY!
I just got a call from some guy at a call center offering to put my site on Google’s top 10. I told him the truth – we’re booked busy with just word-of-mouth advertising. I didn’t want to go on about how we’ve built our website to be super easy to find or worked on useful marketing where we aren’t just placing links where people aren’t looking or tricking them into visiting our site. I have a spam folder on every email account full of such useless “marketing.”
But I wonder, how did this Search Engine Telemarketer find us? In his introduction he tole me his company has the “best selection of keywords to be found on Google.” I’ve already got *exactly* which ones I want. Had he searched before calling he might see that we’re already high up in Google for certain relative search phrases without paid advertising, spamming, or hiring anyone to get us there.
Here’s a Google search for “South Bend Indiana Wedding Photographer” – see how many times you see us there!
So… how did *you* come to find out about us? I’d love to hear about it in the comments. Thanks!

I found you via craigs list. I was/am looking for a flash umbrella my friend said I should get. I am a scrapbooker-turned custom collage artist and I am trying to find ways I can improve my photos. I have a Panasonic Lumix, nothing fancy but it’s good for me. Any suggestions on what a novice should first do to improve? great team you two!

A place I’ve found really great lighting ideas to try without spending heaps of cash, explained the clearest are two places –
the Strobist blog – http://strobist.blogspot.com
and the Do It Yourself Photography blog – http://www.diyphotography.net/
We use a mix of lighting modifiers. I really like the Photoflex white convertible umbrellas that can be used as shoot-through diffusers or bounced, the Strobist blog has tons more info and techniques than I can remember anyway, definitely worth a read. Thanks for checking us out!
