A place I've found really great lighting ideas to try without spending heaps of cash, explained the clearest are two places -

the Strobist blog - http://strobist.blogspot.com

and the Do It Yourself Photography blog - http://www.diyphotography.net/

We use a mix of lighting modifiers. I really like the Photoflex white convertible umbrellas that can be used as shoot-through diffusers or bounced, the Strobist blog has tons more info and techniques than I can remember anyway, definitely worth a read. Thanks for checking us out!

I found you via craigs list. I was/am looking for a flash umbrella my friend said I should get. I am a scrapbooker-turned custom collage artist and I am trying to find ways I can improve my photos. I have a Panasonic Lumix, nothing fancy but it's good for me. Any suggestions on what a novice should first do to improve? great team you two!
