Having what is essentially a complete BSD unix beneath the GUI was a must-have. All of my favorite command line power tools are there, tucked neatly out of site. My other must-have feature is the acoustic quality of the hardware: barring a parts failure, these machines are silent. I have an iMac and a mini on my desk right now, and I can't hear either of them. I love that! I came to the Mac from Linux, rather than from Windows.
