It’s a girl! Madeline is here!

It’s a girl!
Early Saturday morning Sara’s contractions were picking up, and our doctor had us come to the hospital for a checkup to see Madeline’s progress. We were scheduled to come Tuesday for a c-section and had our hospital bags packed and ready last week. I got home from our last event shoot and production of the year with enough time to shower while Grandma Sue was on her way over to stay with our son Adrian.
A checkup revealed that dilation and contractions had increased and it was time to get our baby girl out before labor progressed any farther. Within 2 hours of checking in we were in the OR awaiting our daughter’s birth!
Our little Madeline Suzanne arrived at 5:19am, 8lbs 2oz (2oz heavier than Adrian) and the same length as he was at 20 inches. And cute without question!
Sara is recovering well and we enjoyed visits from family and friends today. Thing still feel like a bit of a whirlwind after a long work day, heading to the hospital, and almost immediately into delivery! (For comparison, we spent 2 wintry days here for Adrian’s induction, then c-section birth, then 3 more days in recovery.) We’re even a bit spoiled that Madeline arrived a few days early so we’ll be home before Thanksgiving!
Time for some much appreciated rest for Mama and Dad while Maddie is resting. We’re missing Adrian a bunch while we’re here. (Swine flu precautions require visitors, even siblings and family, to be 18 years and older.) We’re enjoying all the help from the friendly doctors, nurses and techs here at the hospital and look forward to being back at home soon!
