Licensed to Slice
Congrats to my little sis Genna on passing her state certification last week! Way to go on all your hard work studying to become a licensed stylist!
Genna rocked the 1940s styles in Caroline & Josh’s “Kissing the War Goodbye” engagement session, can’t wait to see her work on upcoming shoots too!
We’re proud of you!

Proof Gallery Update
Disclaimer: I’m no web design guru. I maintain our regular site, this blog, and some side projects. I do, however like web design stuff. Making a website makes me no more of a web guru than owning a camera makes a person a photographer or holding a musical instrument makes one a musician. With that [...]

This is what I got, two days / two shoots in a row when I mentioned “acting natural” during portraits.
On second thought…
I wasn’t going to post the first outtake shot until I saw the same thing on the very next shoot. The very first frame of the next shoot. You guys crack me up. This [...]

Behind the camera, behind the scenes
Whoa. A shoot like Sunday’s 1940s themed Engagement Session with Caroline and Josh was the perfect way to wrap up a busy weekend. I’m digging through the 1500+ photos we shot of prep and all around the bluffs and beach at Silver Beach in Saint Joseph, Michigan.
Yep, 1500 photos, and in less than 2 hours [...]
Tessa & Jonny’s Copshaholm Mansion Garden Wedding
Rain on your wedding day has nothing to do with luck or irony.
It poured last Friday before an outdoor wedding and bride and groom Tessa & Jonny were chill the whole time. I don’t think I saw them worry about it once. When you’ve had an amazing love story like theirs come together from [...]
Many Waters Cannot Quench Love
Perfect Scripture for Tessa & Jonny’s outdoor wedding at the Copshaholm Mansion Gardens in South Bend, Indiana last Friday:
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.
Song of Solomon 8:7
Update on the way – See more of Tessa & Jonny’s photos here – enjoy!
Friday wedding with friends
I love exciting wedding days. Seriously. I love how friends, families, and the community comes together to share in the celebration.
Tomorrow we share in one of my favorite parts of our photography as we tell a friend’s wedding story for Tessa and Jonny.
More photos to come!
Vacation Weekend at Last!
Some favorite photos from a weekend getaway with my folks to Lake Tippecanoe, Indiana.Find time to enjoy a little break even if you’re wearing sweatshirts in late August. (And I love the cool weather!)
This one’s for you blog stalkers who ask how my family and my folks are doing, you know who you are. [...]
Perseids Meteor Shower
Last week was a good week for staying up late. The Perseids meteor shower was in full swing overnight, and I enjoyed a needed break from computer screens of editing and paperwork. Packed up some camera gear and headed out into the corn fields to find a nice quiet spot to shoot.
Turns out 7′ high [...]
