Celebrating Grandma Eleanor today

Eleanor V Bucholtz 1913-2010

That smile and her laugh went with her everywhere, and was contagious. Today we're getting all the Bucholtz families and friends together today to remember and celebrate the 96 years of smiles she shared with us all. Family gatherings were never without laughter, and I don't see us changing that tradition today either. Eleanor V Bucholtz, at the age of 96, passed →

Why I love black and white photos

Remont "Joe" and Eleanor Bucholtz

Why is it I can't get enough of looking at black and white photos from the early 20th century? These guys. Grandparents. Legends. Last Sunday my Grandmother Eleanor V. Bucholtz passed away a few weeks after my 30th birthday and a few weeks before her 97th birthday. She was more than ready to meet her Jesus and see her beloved Joe →

Happy Half-Birthday Madeline!

6 month old baby portraits

While today is my youngest sister Genna and cousin Jeni's birthdays, 5th wedding anniversaries of two cool couples (Kristin & Nate, Kristy & Matt - both with new little daughters!) it's also MY daughter Madeline's 6 month birthday. She hasn't wasted any time learning how to roll over, working on crawling, and gabbing away to let everyone know what's on her →

Day of Rest

Indiana family photographer eB Photography

Sara saw the kids snuggling up for a nap and one of those sweet, quiet moments that go by way too fast. It didn't take me twice to think about grabbing a camera! Hope your Sunday is a restful, relaxing conclusion to the weekend! - Eric, Sara, napping Maddie & Adrian

Of old photos, less is more?

Bassler_Newlyweds

I'm enjoying the last weekend of March as the kids nap and Grandpa's 1950s Argus C-Four 35mm camera begs to be taken outside to shoot some film today. The musty smell of the old leather case and the metal camera that still bears his fingerprint smudges got me thinking. I'm editing through thousands of wedding photos from a recent shoot, preparing →

First Week of the New Year & Decade

South Bend Indiana child photographer

The first week of the year and decade was, in a word, nonstop. Avalanche of snowfall in northern Indiana. Cabin fever. Car repair. More cabin fever. And lots of time with these two blue eyed kiddos. What better opportunity for a dad and photographer to spend time with and photograph two of his favorite people in the entire world? Madeline's eyes →

Sleepy start to 2010

Adrian's friendly reminder that Christmas is 3 weeks away! (Now where's our snow for sledding and snowmen!?)

Thankful Monday

Saying it was a busy week last week would be an understatement! Family and friends have been enormous blessings to us as they rearranged their own schedules to help watch Adrian while Sara and I went to the hospital for Madeline's birth 3 days ahead of her scheduled delivery. I had breakfast with my dad before he was off to work →

p_1600_1200_1BE93D10-06B3-4E6A-85FD-65221CAEA95E.jpeg

It's a girl! Early Saturday morning Sara's contractions were picking up, and our doctor had us come to the hospital for a checkup to see Madeline's progress. We were scheduled to come Tuesday for a c-section and had our hospital bags packed and ready last week. I got home from our last event shoot and production of the year with enough →

Thankful Tuesday

Today I'm thankful for a morning spent with my son Adrian while Momma Sara and Baby Bu had a checkup. Thankful that he let me wear his froggy hat to cover my bed head hair too. :D It doesn't have to be the 4th Thursday of November to be thankful. What things are you thankful for today?

Vacation Weekend at Last!

Some favorite photos from a weekend getaway with my folks to Lake Tippecanoe, Indiana.Find time to enjoy a little break even if you're wearing sweatshirts in late August. (And I love the cool weather!) This one's for you blog stalkers who ask how my family and my folks are doing, you know who you are. :D

Adrian vs spaghetti

Yesterday we found out Adrian loves spaghetti after he grabbed a container of noodles and sauce off the table while Sara was cooking dinner. The "we both know I'm getting away with this once I smile" look - adorable and dangerous :D Good till the last drop Adrian loves Mama Sara's home cooking. Daddy agrees! Who made this mess? Wasn't me... 14 months and into →

My sis loves to read

Always good to see good news on TV. Wednesday my sis Aliya and her 2nd grade students were on the evening news for winning an "I Love to Read" challenge. She's always been the smart one of the fam. (I'm the geeky one and our youngest sis Genna is the... obnoxiously outgoing one. :) If you've met her you know →

Adrian says “Daddy”

I can't even describe how proud of him I am. The kid's got skills. "Daddy" saying skills, walking skills, and ninja skills. Making his parents crack up skills, too, for that matter. We're celebrating his 1st birthday this weekend. It has been an amazing year seeing him grow from sleepy baby to wiggly walker learning new words and new fun skills. We →

Tuesday Thoughts – 2009

Precaffeinated ramblings for old times' sake. I haven't written a Tuesday Thoughts post since last year, and long ago since November at that. Since Election Day there's been a flurry of things happening etting ready for the wintry holidays Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and post-holiday decompression. For anyone who hasn't seen him in person so far this year, Adrian is walking. He's →

Thanks and Giving

A few quick favorites from today's festivities. Adrian's 1st Thanksgiving. Adrian and Aunt Aliya ready to dig in! Adrian finds dessert... mess ahead!

Slow down a minute

This week was all topsy-turvy. Hard to describe the feeling. Lots of changing weather, lots happening at home, lots of work to do for all the cool couples working with us to wrap up their super cool wedding albums. It never slowed for a second. Thursday Sara was out of town for an overnight business trip and I got to watch →

Tuesday Thoughts v5

Just heard church bells, it's 5pm and images are processing - time for some thoughts. How good is your florist? While working on Angela & Cameron's wedding photos I ran across a photo from some outdoor portraits Sara took of Angela and the ladies. Seems the bouquets were so vivid and fragrant a bumblebee came along to compliment the bride's choice →

New Nikon D300 – Test Photos

Yep, the Nikon D300 passed the test - it can capture baby cuteness. Rainy mornings are perfect for baby snuggles and photos. Why yes, I am this cute in person! Our little camera ham :) He's not only accustomed to having a camera in front of him but I'm pretty sure he loves being in front of the camera too. CLASSIC Sara expression! →

Tuesday Thoughts 4 – Anniversary Edition

Today's the 2nd Anniversary of my favorite August wedding - MINE! Two years back Sara met me outside an old brick schoolhouse on a cool August afternoon and we kissed for the first time as newlyweds. Sometimes it feels like we've always been together, other times like it was only a few weeks ago we married. (Snap courtesy of family →

Family First

A man should never neglect his family for business. -Walt Disney I couldn't agree more with the Mousekateer. Having a home office and a 6 month old both at home is tricky to be sure I put adequate time into work matters and make sure I don't miss out on fun with Adrian. Friday after dinner the phones and email →

Fourth of July Fireworks

It's been a few years since I last photographed fireworks and I wanted to give it a shot this year so I took a tripod with me on our excursion to Walkerton to celebrate the Fourth with extended family. Although Adrian wasn't having too much fun with all the carnival ride noise before the show started, once he saw the →
