Low light concert photography: Analecta at Generic Store

Last night I dropped by Generic in downtown South Bend to catch Analecta play a live set. Decided to play with my Nikon D700's high ISO settings in low light. I positioned myself in an open spot across from most of the moving lighting where pretty much all the light was above and behind the bassist up front. It would →
Melissa & Jim’s Back to School IU Bloomington Engagement

What a great back to school weekend heading to the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, Indiana with Melissa and Jim. We started off where the wedding story started when Jim asked Melissa to be his wife. Melissa and Jim were into the fountain before I knew it, couldn't blame them on such a sunny summer afternoon! Lots of Cream and Crimson around →

Favorite August Outdoor Wedding

I've always liked outdoor weddings. My parents got married beneath the pine trees at Bendix Woods, bridesmaids with yellow dresses and giant 1970s sunhats. Four years ago today Sara and I chose a country schoolhouse yard for our celebration, sun hats optional. Waiting for the ceremony to start. Smiling at family and friends from the front of the ceremony, in front →

Diana & Roger – Summertime Engagement Session

I think one of the things I like best about my work telling engagement and wedding stories through photography is getting to see so many friends happy. Diana, Roger and I met up at the Beutter Park river walks in Mishawaka for a sunny evening of photos. Sara grew up just blocks away from Battell and Beutter Parks and we spent →
Matt’s Senior Session

I was pretty stoked while planning Matt's Senior Session that I heard he was in a band. I've been mixing audio for live, local music since the early days back in the Underground basement. Whenever I have extra crew to run things I'll grab a camera and head for the stage to photograph the energy of a live rock show. Meet →

Gena and Bob’s Indiana Dunes Beach Wedding

Congrats newlyweds! We had a blast celebrating with Gena and Bob and their families out in the sands of Indiana Dunes yesterday. Tessa & Jonny’s Copshaholm Mansion Garden Wedding

Rain on your wedding day has nothing to do with luck or irony. It poured last Friday before an outdoor wedding and bride and groom Tessa & Jonny were chill the whole time. I don't think I saw them worry about it once. When you've had an amazing love story like theirs come together from across oceans, a little rainfall →

Lauren and Andrew’s Basilica Wedding at Notre Dame

Who says rain on your wedding day is bad news? I loved the things the rain did for photos of Lauren and Andrew's wedding at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Notre Dame Campus. Andrew and the gents walked from the Morris Inn on campus to the Basilica and the sprinkle was no match for the determined groomsmen. Besides making →

Beth and Jeff’s Engagement Session

Memorial Day seriously messed with my internal calendar. From March till November my calendar weeks start on Saturday. This week, Monday became Saturday with a morning wedding and two evening portrait shoots. Power of Positive Thinking
Ok, it was more than positive daydreaming, it was an entire city, state, and region of the country getting tired of the cold. But finally, WE'RE ABOVE ZERO AGAIN! This marks a 33˚ difference from the record-tying -19˚ it was yesterday. Stay toasty. I'm gonna go enjoy some positive temperatures.
