This isn’t your mother’s pet portrait print method.
It’s good to see friends. It’s good to get creative. Seeing friends in their creative element? That’s some magic of its own. When that element is comedy, well that’s just icing on the cake.
While I’m not specifically a follower of pro wrestling, the laughs during the podcast recording did not disappoint. I even threw in a few dad jokes while snapping behind the scenes photos of the guys talking shop on their 24th episode of the Perfect 3 Podcast (episode link below).
By the end of the set I was a bonafide fan. I’ve got (autograph) papers!
If your guy Japes looks familiar, it’s not a glitch in the Matrix. He’s been around over a decade of shows, shoots, and creative foolery. Maybe you saw him as a Viking or fancied up at a rock show wedding, and Underground Cafe shows since it was a basement venue. His earlier podcast about comics, pop culture & laughs got me into podcast listening before Serial dropped and the trend surged. Well done, good sir!
School is back in session, and Quinn is off to Kindergarten!
Wrapped up Summer Vacation with a Back to School / Off to Kindergarten session with Quinn. He was more excited for school to begin than for holding a sign board but he quickly warmed up to his new modeling gig. (The attitude for the camera from this guy! He’s ready for the stage and screen.)
Congrats, Quinn, and welcome Class Of (wait for it)… 2030!
The holidays are simply magical. Friends gather, family comes to town, all bringing smiles and fond remembrances of yesteryear.
Christmastime and winter break was a pretty fantastic time of year when I was a kid. It had all the sparkle and wonder of a cheery Hallmark movie dipped in school glue and rolled in every canister of glitter within reach at the craft table. I recall Continue reading “Home For the Holidays – Family Portraits and Sibling Rivalry”
My favorite portraits from the spontaneous shoot / contest at Generic store in downtown South Bend (a few years back). These made it all over my Facebook page for voting but the rest have remained Previously Unpublished until now.
On a personal note,
Be yourself. You are beautiful.
You don’t owe anyone an apology for not fitting their ideals of beauty, of cool, of popular.
That kind of confidence shows on your face, shows in your decisions, and sometimes, it even shows in front of a camera.

Sometimes my job behind the camera is a piece of cake. My clients’ ideas and translate into a creative energy, smiles abound, and it’s almost effortless. Like I said, a piece of cake. If anything, Quanay and her son Ayden made it a slice of 1st birthday cake when we met up for Ayden’s first birthday shoot.
Growing up is hard to do. I have a feeling once Ayden discovers that his birthday celebration includes cake he’s going to be just fine!
Happy first birthday Ayden! Hope it’s full of smiles, fun, and of course… cake!

On a sunny April Saturday 10 years ago today I joined Rachelle & Josh for their springtime wedding celebration at the Morris Estate Chapel in Niles, Michigan. Colorful tulips were in bloom outside the former Centre Meeting House, now a country chapel where the newlyweds were married. As they celebrate their anniversary today, here are some of my favorites from their wedding day story. Enjoy! Congrats, newlyweds!
Nothing like a great day to hit the beach, set up some lights, and get a photo shoot going! And weather like this is nothing like one!

Sometimes an image is just made to be seen in black and white. Textures, patterns, and details all fit together for a perfect recipe of monochrome magic.
Drop me a line or a call for a portrait session as creative as you are.
