My favorite portraits from the spontaneous shoot / contest at Generic store in downtown South Bend (a few years back). These made it all over my Facebook page for voting but the rest have remained Previously Unpublished until now.
On a personal note,
Be yourself. You are beautiful.
You don’t owe anyone an apology for not fitting their ideals of beauty, of cool, of popular.
That kind of confidence shows on your face, shows in your decisions, and sometimes, it even shows in front of a camera.
I’m a fan of incorporating my clients’ ideas into their photo sessions. The more excited about your photos and involved in the creative process you are, the more my energy behind the camera is fueled back into your photos. One of my favorite conversations about a customized engagement session turned out to be a time warp to 1945 to spin a classy take on the famous “Kissing the War Goodbye” sailor and nurse photograph. Victory curls, polka dots, and a (modern day) US Navy dress blue uniform were all upstaged by smiles and laughs throughout these themed engagement portraits.
I put together the vintage Guest Book post and Facebook samples -both a hit- while the rest went into the album, Save the Date cards, and print samples without sneaking online since! Here are more of my favorites from this shoot in classy black and white.
Kiss ordinary photo shoots goodbye and drop me a line here to see your ideas turn into the images you’ve always wanted.
Earlier this week I posted on my socialmediafeeds a link to something new to me – Flash Weddings. I’m a fan of nontraditional, offbeat wedding day celebrations that incorporate elements of the newlyweds’ interests, back story, and dreams into the day’s festivities. This wedding was the first such “offbeat” ceremony I photographed for a couple who brought together handmade fashion and floral creations, South African wedding traditions, and a safari exhibit at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. It was during my first full year of digital photography in 2005 – years before I had kids of my own to take to the zoo to see -and sometimes behave like- wild animals. Without further rambling, allow me to present a selection of my favorites from this South African safari themed wedding celebration for this Throwback Thursday. Enjoy! -eB
As one of my favorite months begins, so does the countdown to International Star Wars Day, May 4th. To kick things off, here’s a handful of my favorite details from Kelli & Phil’s very memorable wedding day.
Enjoy, and May the Fourth be with you! -eB
The bride’s R2D2 back tattoo
Handmade stationery bouquet, wedding rings with a braided handfasting ceremony cord.
And what’s a Star Wars day celebration without some small, hard to understand, colorful characters stealing a few scenes? Yoda & Wicket joined in as ring bearer and flower Ewok. Too cute, they were.
I met Brandi and Matt through rock concerts so it’s no surprise their customized, personalized wedding was nothing shy of ROCKING too. Elements of Alice in Wonderland, goth, punk, vintage pin-up styles, rock shows graced their celebration at the theatrical auditorium in the Scottish Rite building in downtown South Bend, Indiana.
I got a special backstage passes to this rock show wedding and helped plan this extraordinary celebration.
Red and black were featured in everything from Brandi’s wedding dress, hairstyle, the gents’ tuxedos, bridesmaid dresses, and accessories.
