It’s always a treat to photograph weddings for siblings, cousins, coworkers and friends when you get to see familiar faces when you go “to work.” Jill and Brad’s wedding on Saturday was the continuation of a great celebration with Brad’s family when his sister Amanda married last June.
You know the bouquet and garter toss that you see at most receptions? At Amanda & Justin’s wedding last June Jill caught the bouquet and Brad caught the garter. Continue reading “Jill and Brad’s Outdoor Wedding at Orchard Hills”
Also no tornado, lighting strikes or hail damage.
Between stormfronts I raced up to Lake Michigan with Lauren and Andrew for a great engagement shoot on the almost deserted Weko Beach in Bridgman, Michigan.
“I was hoping for some lightning in the background… but you two are pretty electric!”(yes… I seriously said that. I was rather proud of how fast I thought of it, but man it was cheesy to hear aloud. Thanks for the courtesy laughs!)
Great laughs, SNICK television lineup trivia, and a relaxing afternoon hearing about their exciting August wedding ahead! More photos ahead…
I put together a quick sample of our work for a friend of ours planning a summer 2009 wedding and thought I’d better share the summery favorites from last year’s engagement sessions. Nice warm thoughts from the toasty beach shoots should warm up this odd weather December. The shoreline was definitely this year’s favorite location – hard to beat working barefoot!
We had way too much fun on these shoots taking a break from wedding planning and hanging out with our couples to limit this session to just one package so now it’s included in ALL of our Wedding Photography Packages!
Have a great New Year!
It’s official – the class of 2009 is here.
Last week we had an awesome Senior Session shoot with Brandi to celebrate the last days of summer at the beach. What a perfect afternoon and evening of fun, photos and great weather!
Nothing like a golden summer sunset!
For the final shots of her session, Brandi brought along her Prom dress for some very classy sunset and dusk photos.
Today brings our final summertime wedding – a great celebration with Angela and Cameron!

While we’re out celebrating with Amanda and Justin, enjoy some of our favorites from their Engagement Session earlier this month! Form the Engagement Session there is a link to the wedding day gallery. Enjoy!
On our way down the beach Justin saw this sand bar and he and Amanda were awesome sports and walked out into knee deep Lake Michigan water to stand on the sandbar.

Saturday I spent the late afternoon and eve with Jacqueline and Zachary in Michigan City for their Engagement Session along Lake Michigan. This was my second time dipping my feet in the Lake in the last 2 weeks and it’s gotten at least a little warmer. (That, or the nuclear power plant just inland was keeping things nice and toasty, hard to say.)
Dancing in the sand
There was a great storm front moving across the lake. Last time I shot at Washington Park we had to run from the rain. This time the storm stayed over the water and moved along to bring some terrific dramatic skies before sunset.
Throughout the session when beach-goers would ask if we were shooting an engagement session Zach would tell them “that’s what we’re calling it. Really we’re rock stars…”
That being the case, this one is for the magazine cover. 🙂 You guys rocked!

It’s amazing to see the youngest students of my 2002-2003 drama class now getting ready for graduation day. I was proud of them back then for all the hard work they put into our (elective) class, and I am even more proud as they get ready to celebrate all their hard work throughout high school. The most recent of our students to join us for a Senior Session was Miriam.
What started as a rainy few days turned out to be a vivid, sunny afternoon at the Japanese Gardens. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot – enjoy!
What a toasty weekend we shared with Meghan & Jon in Warsaw! Here are a couple of my favorites so far…
This was the perfect summer weekend for sunshine! We started off at the park with Meghan and Jon before all the formal portraits at the church. They withstood the summer heat and came back with some great outdoor photos.
And when you pass friends playing hacky sack in the park, you jump right in! These two tore it up.
Behold the dangers of giving your friends, family and guests bird seed to throw when you make your exit…
I absolutely loved the paper parasols above the checkered dance floor! I don’t know if it was done with the photography in mind but it made for great soft light, excellent textures and patterns, and a unique look throughout the reception. My compliments to the creative forces behind this idea!
