Lake Michigan Sunset by Holga, Summer 2016
Engagement Cards Anyone?
I put together a quick sample of our work for a friend of ours planning a summer 2009 wedding and thought I’d better share the summery favorites from last year’s engagement sessions. Nice warm thoughts from the toasty beach shoots should warm up this odd weather December. The shoreline was definitely this year’s favorite location – hard to beat working barefoot!
We had way too much fun on these shoots taking a break from wedding planning and hanging out with our couples to limit this session to just one package so now it’s included in ALL of our Wedding Photography Packages!
Have a great New Year!
Congrats Angela and Cameron

Jacqueline & Zach’s Lake Michigan Engagement
Saturday I spent the late afternoon and eve with Jacqueline and Zachary in Michigan City for their Engagement Session along Lake Michigan. This was my second time dipping my feet in the Lake in the last 2 weeks and it’s gotten at least a little warmer. (That, or the nuclear power plant just inland was keeping things nice and toasty, hard to say.)
Dancing in the sand
There was a great storm front moving across the lake. Last time I shot at Washington Park we had to run from the rain. This time the storm stayed over the water and moved along to bring some terrific dramatic skies before sunset.
Throughout the session when beach-goers would ask if we were shooting an engagement session Zach would tell them “that’s what we’re calling it. Really we’re rock stars…”
That being the case, this one is for the magazine cover. 🙂 You guys rocked!

Spectacular sand and sunset shoot
Wow, I’m beat. Turns out running with photo gear in sand will wear you out. Also turns out shooting a hilarious couple to photograph against some dramatic skies will make you forget you’ve been sand running. True story.
I spent the later afternoon into evening with Jacqueline and Zachary at Washington park in Michigan City. It was a great day for a Lake Michigan engagement portrait session! It wasn’t humid or scorching, the skies had dramatic clouds, and I don’t think we stopped laughing through the entire session.
Here’s a quick instant favorite from the evening. Many more to come early next week.
And lastly, since I’m still up after midnight into Sunday…
Happy Fathers’ Day to all the dads out there, mine’s at the top of that list.
